8 Out of 10 Times: Travelers Advantage Delivers Lower Online Prices Than Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia, and Travelocity
Aug 24, 2004
Travelers Advantage has delivered a lower online price for travel to 50 top destinations eight out of 10 times during the first 30 weeks of 2004 when compared to Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia, and Travelocity, the membership based travel service said today. Travelers Advantage based the claim on weekly comparison of total air transportation costs for round trip flights between more than 50 frequently booked pairs of cities.
"TravelersAdvantage.com delivered the lowest purchasable price to consumers 80 percent of the time during the first 30 weeks of 2004," said Travelers Advantage Vice President Julia Ryan. "Each week we compared ourselves to Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia, and Travelocity for travel between cities that include New York and London; Denver and Los Angeles; Los Angeles and Denver; Newark, NJ and Las Vegas; and Newark and Orlando, FL.
"Our price comparison is based on the actual price consumers pay," she added. "We included airport fees, taxes and other fees as well as the service fees imposed by the competing travel agencies to present an accurate comparison of the full cost of flying between two cities."
As part of its comprehensive comparison of air transportation costs to the most popular cities, the company has launched a new Travelers Advantage Monthly Travel Monitor that will compare average airfare prices and showcase the top travel destinations. Look for the first issue of travel monitor this fall.
